Running time: ? ::: SYNOPSIS ::: At 22:49 on 8 December 1980, a single 9mm bullet ended the relationship of one of the most famous couples in history. 2005 marks the 25th anniversary of the end of the legacy that was the partnership between Lennon and Ono. This film will explore the UNTOLD story of love, secrecy and intrigue behind one of the most publicised couples in history. Even today, the image of John Lennon and Yoko Ono manages to epitomize the most utopian of relationships. Together they embodied the free love and peace movements of the 70's as their agenda transcended from music to social commentary. However, despite John and Yoko's public proclamations of idealistic values, they managed to hide a dark and disturbing secret from the public - Yoko's separation from her first child, called Kyoko. Born 8th August 1963, Kyoko was fathered by eccentric American filmmaker Tony Cox, whom Yoko had married previously that year. However, Yoko's decision to leave Tony in 1969 following revelations of her affair with Lennon, resulted in a loss of contact with her daughter which would last for almost three decades! Tony Cox raised Kyoko and initiated her into the bizarre Domesday cult "The Walk". For over twenty years Tony and Kyoko moved from continent to continent to escape the clutches of the FBI and the private investigators hired by Yoko and Lennon. Amazingly, and unbeknownst to many, Yoko and Lennon kidnapped Kyoko whilst she was on holiday in Majorca with her father by snatching her in a street. However, they were caught by police and when asked by a judge, Kyoko expressed preference to return to her father. So how, despite the love affair that this infamous couple had with the media, did they manage to keep the pursuit to find Kyoko a secret? And importantly, WHY did a couple who tried to personify the virtues of love, peace, friends and family attempt to keep the internal ructions of their own relationships a secret? In hindsight their proclamations now seem gilded with the hypocrisy of their personal lives and the secrecy of their search for Kyoko. A separation spanning twenty-five years between mother and daughter seems almost irrevocable. Indeed, Kyoko had been brought up to believe her mother was the personification of evil. However, three weeks after the birth of her first child, Emi, Kyoko felt the need to re-establish contact with the mother. Their low-key reunion in a public park in Denver, resulted in a much publicised £200million deposit by Yoko into a trust fund for her granddaughter Emi. An artiste in her own right, Yoko Ono is one of the world's most famous women and arguably one of the world's most despised for her alleged role in the break-up of The Beatles. Publicly she is recognised as the wife of the most celebrated musicians of all time, but amazingly an important part of her life with Lennon remains a mystery. This film will uncover that mystery. This one-off, 60-minute documentary, will feature exclusive interviews with both Kyoko and Tony Cox. Although Kyoko has now been reunited with her mother, Tony is still deeply bitter of Yoko's decision to leave him and marry Lennon. He wants to make public the inside story of the battle for Kyoko with Yoko and Lennon. Both Kyoko and Tony will be able to provide us with the untold truth of what really happened and allow us to examine the never before seen side of Yoko and her relationship with Lennon. |
