::: SYNOPSIS :::
Heroes is a moving story about a young Belfast boy looking for a role model in an age when heroes do not seem to exist, and those who you take to be heroic are not what they seem. The film is also a critical homage to the classic cowboy movie Shane.

Joe, his wife Olivia and his son Joey live on a Belfast housing estate. By chance, they meet a stranger, Shane, who helps Joe with some work around the house.

When Joe's house is virtually besieged by local teenagers, he finds himself unable to cope, and we witness Joe being replaced in Joey's affections by Shane. When Joe is finally beaten by the teenagers in front of Joey, Shane intervenes with terrible brutality.

No-one wins. Joe is left feeling humiliated, Shane full of self-disgust at his own violence, and Joey confused as to who to look up to.

Heroes brings a touch of realism to the powerful archetypes of manhood we learn from cowboy movies.
