::: TRANSMISSION DETAILS :::
Lines of Fire was broadcast on BBC1 Northern Ireland in October 2000.
Running time: 41 minutes

::: SYNOPSIS :::
'The poetry of the Troubles didn't change a thing. A book didn't stop a single bullet. But just as we cannot forget the dead, nor should we forget these poemsá full of pity, beauty and rage'

Presented by Paul Muldoon, the film journeys from injustice, to atrocity, to hope, using the poems which responded to the Northern Ireland Troubles.

Alongside a cast including Stephen Rea, Adrian Dunbar and Brid Brennan, poets such as Seamus Heaney, Micheal Longley and Tom Paulin offer their own 'small human cries in the face of conflict'.

The film was a great example of creative collaboration, using Jimmy's critical skills to draw together an anthology of poems which could tell a coherent story on television, Brendan's visual flair as director and editor Greg Darby's instinct for narrative. It's probably the film we're proudest of.
